Provide daily preventative and corrective maintenance in assigned areas in accordance with standard procedures of the Facilities Services Department and in accordance with the Hospital's objectives.
Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair machinery, systems, controls from drawings, sketches, verbal or written instructions.
Mechanic “B’s” are expected to work independently to the extent that their expertise allows, and when further expertise or direction is indicated, the Mechanic B will consult with Mechanic A and/or supervisor, as needed.
Works on a continuous basis in routine repairs and service as well as emergency situations. Ensures proper tools, materials and spare parts are available to complete the job.
Understands job assignments. Able to diagnose problems quickly. Ability to repair or service unfamiliar equipment and/or systems and controls. Ability to use test equipment that is trade-related in diagnosing problems.
High School Diploma or GED required – vocational/technical graduate preferred.
Construction and facilities maintenance courses a plus with shop math, able to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings and electrical schematics.
