Responsibilities

Under the direction of the ED director and RN, administers services to ensure the delivery of high quality, efficient, effective patient care within the department. Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists with personal hygiene, takes vital signs and changes bed linens. May serve and collect food trays, provide for between-meal nourishment, and clean, sterilize, store and prepare other supplies. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. The Unit Clerk will function as the assistant to the nursing and medical staff of the Emergency Department. The role will be to help expedite the care of the patient through order entry, coordination of reports, contacting other ancillary staff and calling attending MDs. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 0-2 years of related experience. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. BLS certification required. This position requires weekend and holiday commitment. Hospital experience preferred.
