    The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care necessary to meet the needs of the patient.  Patient population will include newborns through and including geriatric patients.

    Hours: 1/4 Weekends (12 hour shifts)

    • Performs complete and accurate documentation of all respiratory modalities in the patient record, including pulmonary and cardiovascular functions, changes in therapies provided, patient responses to therapies, and adjustments made to ventilator settings
    • Recognizes and communicates patients' needs, responsiveness to therapies, and unusual circumstances or changes that arise with patient care team in a timely manner.  Makes recommendations as appropriate
    • Performs patient teaching of all respiratory modalities
    • Auscultates breath sounds and documents rales, rhonchi, and wheezing as it relates to the disease process and response to therapy
    • Recognizes signs of hypoxia and compromised lung function to include skin color, nail beds, oxygen saturation, blood gas results and work of breathing
    • Recognizes basic cardiac rhythms to include tachycardia, bradycardia, premature ventricular contractions, and asystole
    • Determines absence of pulse in the carotid, brachial, radial, and femoral sites and documents when applicable
    • Communicates patient response to therapy with the patient care team and makes recommendations for care
    • Demonstrates application of all respiratory care equipment to include: ventilators, transcutaneous monitor, suction catheters, resuscitators, respiromenters, MedGraphics PF/Dx PFTmachine, chest percussors, BiPAP and CPAP units, MAC-6 EKG machine, oxygen systems, Oximeters, pressure manometers, arterial puncture kits, regulators and flowmeters, and air compressors
    • Executes all aspects of pulmonary rehab to include individual exercise and education
    • Cleans and prepares equipment using manufacturers recommendation



    • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care and meet all Registry requirements set forth by the NBRC


    • Current Respiratory Therapist license in Pennsylvania
    • Current BLS and NRP certifications required

    Experience/Knowledge and Skills:

    • Team oriented
    • 2 years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, preferred
    •  Displays professionalism and high integrity
    •  Familiar with respiratory care equipment, including but not limited to Ventilators (all types), Resuscitators (all types), Suction Catheters, Respirometers, Chest Percussors, BiPaP and CPAP units, EKG machine, Oxygen systems, Oximeters (all types), Pressure Manometers, IPPB machines, ABG Kits, Regulators and Flowmeters, Air Compressors, MedGraphics PF/DX PFT Machine, Bedside Spirometers, and infant ventilators
