The nurse demonstrates safe practice within the professional practice model and demonstrates competency within the domains of clinical judgment and decision-making, nurse-patient relationship, clinical leadership and clinical scholarship. The nurse maintains a competent level of knowledge and skills with providing direct care to the patient. The nurse demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide individualized care based on physical, psychological, cultural, educational, safety and age appropriate considerations of patients. The nurse complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies.
Performs diagnostic studies, non imaging stress testing, exercise & pharmacologic nuclear stress testing, and exercise & pharmacologic stress echo with MD, NP or PAC. May also be asked to assist the department by performing ECG’s or holter monitors, starting an intravenous line, administering contrast or bubble study for echocardiography and assisting with TEE’s. Demonstrates and records assessment of patient and provides information to physician prepares diagnostic information for physician and completes daily log for all studies and orders/acknowledges studies per hospital protocol. Maintains Quality Assurance statistics and Critical Value Reporting.
Minimum of 18 months of work experience as a professional nurse required.
2 years critical care experience (may have 1 year critical care and 1 year emergency room experience) preferred. Or 2 years experience in telemetry.
Must have knowledge of cardiac anatomy & physiology and pathologies with capability of recognizing/interpreting normal and abnoral ECG's.
Basic computer skills required.
Graduate of an NLN approved school of professional nursing with an active PA state license.
