    Responsibilities

    The Emergency Department Nursing Education Specialist assists the provision of quality patient care by ensuring the clinical competence of nursing staff in the emergency department.

     

    Responsibilities include developing and teaching ED specific orientation, in service, and continuing education programs, utilizing current nursing research and focusing on the knowledge and skills required to care for patients in the assigned area, quality improvement issues, and accreditation/licensing requirements. The Nursing Education Specialist consults with Director, Clinical Manager, and staff regarding patient care and staff performance issues, participates in setting standards for patient care, and maintains knowledge and skills in the clinical area to which assigned.

     

    This position will work two clinical shifts on the unit per week and one shift dedicated to education specialist role.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's or Nursing (BSN) degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
    • 5 years of direct ED work experience
    • Current PA Registered Nurse (RN) license
    • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider, ACLS, PALS and CPI certification. Must be willing to become an instructor for BCLS, ACLS, and/or PALS
    • Certified Emergency Nurse preferred
