Organizes and directs the daily activities of the department laboratory.
Responsible for supervising laboratory personnel, conducting and overseeing quality assurance
and quality control. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Reports to manager of Laboratory department.
Duties include processing of tissue specimens for routine and special stains to confirm diagnosis.
Performs complex histological procedures, records and analyzes data and maintains and repairs instruments.
Supervisory duties includes procedure writing, competency, recording of Quality controls, Proficiency Surveys,
monthly Quality assurance reports, department maintaining department instruments. Must be familiar with TJC, CAP and State regulatory standards.
-Associates degree or Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of 4 years experience in related field.
-Histotechnician, HT (ASCP ), preferred.
-Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures in Histology.
