  • Overview

    The Certified Medical Assistant professionally engages Brandywine Valley Cardiology patients by assisting with patient care, recording critical patient information, and providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services per the guidance of our Physicians.

     

    This position is a front desk and clinical position.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    Duties will include

    • Front desk responsibilities to include verify patient insurances, referrals, and demographics, checkin, checkout, schedule followup appointments with providers and assist patients with scheduling studies ordered by providers.
    • Clinical responsibilities to include obtaining prior authorizations for medications and studies as needed.
    • Maintain patient records by accurately recording medical history, record patient medication history, vital statistics, etc., and scanning related documents.
    • Accompanying patients to exam/procedure room and assisting patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens and preparing for exam.
    • Collecting patient history
    • Sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/X-ray reports and hospital notes to provide Provider with complete patient history
    • Adheres to Patient Confidentiality Policies and HIPAA regulations.
    • Setting up equipment according to department protocols, cleaning exam/procedure rooms and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control, and restocking exam/procedure rooms.

     

     

     

    Qualifications

    • A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), some college preferred.
    • Current national certification such as CMA and BLS/CPR Certification required.
    • Successful ability to work with teams across the business to maximize the impact of the overall business effort
    • A minimum 2-5 year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant. Cardiology experience preferred but not required. 
    • AthenaClinicals and/or Epic helpful but not required.
    • Knowledge of local insurance plans, HMO, PPO, MCOs, Medicare and PA Medicaid.
