Working under the direct supervision of the pharmacist(s), the pharmacy technician assists in all pharmacy operations' functions related to: (1) preparation & distribution of all doses of medication; (2) maintenance of drug inventories (e.g., re-stocking automated dispensing cabinets throughout the hospital, drug packaging/re-packaging, extemporaneous compounding, code cart re-stock, etc.); and, (3) processing admission, discharge, and transfer of patient information and medication. (4) Independently and accurately completes medication histories for patients in the emergency department and medical floors. (5) Enters medication histories into eMAR systems correctly, and consults with covering pharmacist as needed. (6) Performs clerical tasks, clinical tasks, and other duties as assigned in conjunction with pharmacists driven activities. The pharmacy technician acts as an extension of the pharmacist so as to enable the pharmacist to safely and efficiently perform their required duties as they relate to the medication use system.
|Education: High School Diploma required; college level courses desirable (but not required)|
|Experience: 1 year of experience as pharmacy technician required. 3 years preferred in hospital or retail pharmacy setting/other medical experience may be considered|
|Licenses/Certificates: Pharmacy Technician Certification required, or must be obtained within 6 months of filling position.|
