Assumes responsibility for the patient registration process. Obtains complete and accurate information contributing to a timely and effective billing process. Possesses excellent customer service skills and demonstrates effective communication talents when dealing with internal and external customers alike.
Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers promptly and courteously. Exercises judgment as to the urgency and nature of calls and directs them to appropriate personnel. Schedules physician appointments for the office. Obtains correct demographic and insurance information, appropriate consents and signatures for billing, performing registration process efficiently and in a timely manner. Collects patient payments and accurately documents according to departmental procedures. Verifies insurance coverage and referrals timely. Contacts other offices as needed to obtain appropriate information. As requests for copies of medical records arrive, analyzes, determines how each is to be handled and appropriate fees to be charged in accordance with state law. Observes strict confidentiality regarding patient information and uses discretion in communication.
