  • Responsibilities

    The histotechnologist is responsible for preparing microscopic slides for diagnostic purposes, performing diagnostic tests, maintaining laboratory equipment and records, providing instruction and is a resource to others.  Must possess a working knowledge and theory of histologic techniques in Immunohistochemistry and Special Stain techniques and histology automation.

     

    The histotechnologist receives and processes specimens according to established methodology to prepare microscopic slides of these specimens for subsequent examination and diagnosis by the pathologist.

     

    Must have an excellent knowledge of the CoPath system and are expected to help with upgrades and modifications to workflow in the system.

    Qualifications

    HTL(ASCP). Nationally recognized certification credentials with a Bachelor's Degree  in the biological sciences, chemistry or in medical technology, or completion of a CAHEA accredited histotechnology program.

     

    Non-traditional routes to established skill level may be accepted after a review of education and experience.

     

    Completion of training at an approved school of histotechnology.

     

    One year of skill level may be accepted after a review of education and experience.

     

    Completion of training at an approved school of histotechnology.

     

    One year full time experience in histopathology within the last ten years.
